1 cashew or malacca pear
a few West Indian cherries
2 oz sugar
1/4 pt water
1 Boil sugar and water together until a thin syrup is formed.
2 Set aside to cool.
3 Wash and peel fruit, discard seeds and cut into neat pieces. Keep juices.
4 Mix the fruit in a glass dish, straining over any fruit juices.
5 Pour on the cool syrup of which there should be enough to float the fruit.
6 chill before serving.
Note: Any other fruit may be used.
